Any comment on the residence halls experience? I am a senior, and I have lived on campus in the residence halls for all 4 years! My experience in the halls has been so wonderful, that I really cannot see myself moving off campus. The fact that everything is provided for you in one central location is invaluable to me. Even if you feel the need for your own room, you can move into the upperclassmen hall and share a kitchen, living room, and bathroom with only 3 other people! The friends I made in the dorms my freshman year, are still some of my best friends today as a senior. The residence halls are a necessary component of college, and college would not be complete without it!
What activities/organizations are you involved in? I have been involved in, National Residence Hall Honorary, Judical Board, Spanish Business Association – Treasurer, Campus Ambassadors – Treasurer, WURHA Conference 2010 – Banquet Chair Person, Beta Upsilon Sigma Fraternity, UWEC Waterski and Wakeboard Team, UWEC Skydiving Club, Studied abroad in Costa Rica Nicaragua and Mexico, participated in the Civil Rights Pilgrimage to the south, completed my service learning in Nicaragua by helping tutor children and building a greenhouse for a poor village.
What’s on your Ipod right now? Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Ke$ha, Ludacris, Jason Derülo, Beyoncé, Daddy Yankee, Rihanna, Pitbull, LMFAO
Best thing/place to eat on campus: Dulany Buffet OR Asian Pacific Traders!
Best place to eat in Eau Claire: Buffalo Wild Wings and Secret GardenBest class so far (why): English 110. I absolutely HATE English; however, my teacher was amazing and really strived to help us learn. We had more work to do than other sections of the same class; however, she said that it was going to prep us for the rest of college; and it did! I learned so much from that class, and every time I go back to write a paper I still think of what I learned in that class.
Best thing about being a student at UWEC: All of the amazing opportunities we have to get involved on campus, and in the community. Every semester I find an amazing new opportunity that is going to help me develop myself, and become a better professional after graduation.
Why did you pick UWEC? The text-book rental program was a no-brainer for me. Not having to worry about spending an extra 500-600 a semester was a great bonus, and to not have to worry about trying to sell them back at the end really made a difference for me.
Best advice for getting the most out of college: GET INVOLVED! It is very cliché, but it seriously has been the pivotal key to success for me. I met so many more people, and really have had a FUN time at college because I became so involved.
Best Blugold tradition/event: HOMECOMING!!!! It is the CRAZIEST week on campus, and everyone gets excited to help their organization get points to win the competitions!! It is the best time of the year! (Yes! Better than Christmas!)
Best memory/experience in college so far: Studying abroad TWICE! They were the best experiences of my life, and I think everyone should do it at least once!
Why you want to be on my tour (5 words or less): “You’ll never want to leave!”
