Any comment on the residence halls experience? For me, by living in the residence halls I learned so much about myself, I got connected to the University in a way I wouldn’t have imagined, being so close to everything in some respects makes you so close to everyone.
What activities/organizations are you involved in? Currently I am involved in Campus Ambassadors, and am the president of our club on campus called Colleges Against Cancer who put on Relay for Life. I spent the last full academic year studying abroad, first to Spain and then to Mexico. I wouldn’t change any of my experiences, they were such great opportunities to learn and grow.
What’s on your Ipod right now? Ingrid Michealson & Michael Buble
Where do you work during school? Academic Skills Center, Tutoring Spanish of course ;)
Best place to study: The Goat on Water Street… great music, amazing coffee, and a chill atmosphere.. free wifi too!
Best thing/place to eat on campus: Green Mountain, for breakfast… tons of different coffee flavors, bagels, smoothies, & muffins.
Best place to eat in Eau Claire: Hmm… SO many… I would have to say The Nucleus on Water Street… honestly, hands down the best omelets I have every had… perfect for a nice Sunday morning.
Favorite thing to do when you get free time: If it is in the summer time, usually floating down the river with friends & grilling out. Winter…I’d have to say going to a coffee shop & getting a nice hot latte & meeting with friends to chat.
Favorite activity/place off-campus: The Budget Theater… $2.00 to see a movie!! It is incredible...and close.
Favorite activity/place on-campus: The Cabin… with shows on the weekends, right next to our coffee shop.
Best class so far: Speech. I learned so much about myself and the kind of person I want to be. The class was directed around improving not only our speaking abilities but our self confidence & ideas about life.
Best professor: Fred Kolb. He is hands down the most amazing person I have met because of his view of the world & life. He is real, down to earth & very open. I felt so welcomed in his class freshman year, and I will never forget that because still to this day, I email and call him about ideas and thoughts.
Best thing about being a student at UWEC: THE PEOPLE!! Everyone is so friendly and open. I love walking on campus and seeing the smiling faces, even when the students may be stressed about something in school. It is a very friendly campus and helpful. Meeting new people and seeing old friends is like having a iced cup of coffee on my porch on a summer day… beautiful.
Best reason to stay up until 2a.m.: Watching the Office, best.show.in.the.world., with friends & eating popcorn.
Why did you pick UWEC? Honestly, it was just a gut feeling. I had a tour and had thought I wanted to go to Madison, but after my tour and visit in Eau Claire… I just knew that it was the right fit for me. My heart felt it and I felt good walking around on the beautiful campus.
Best advice for getting the most out of college: Get involved, with anything that interests you… don’t hesitate to ask questions, we were all in the same boat for our first year, & we are here to help.
Best Blugold tradition/event: Getting all your friends together and going to Higher Ground to dance the night away.
Best memory/experience in college so far: There are so many, but if I just had to choose one… Floating down the river last summer, with a group from campus, Orientation Assistants,… laughing so hard we were crying & heading back to my friend’s house to grill out and laugh some more.
Why you want to be on my tour in 5 words or less: I'm happy at Eau Claire. (& I think you will be too)
