What has been your favorite course?

My favorite course was Evolutionary Geology of the Andes taken during the TIES program in Mendoza, Argentina. I took part in the TIES program during the spring of 2011,where I was able to spend four exciting months in Mendoza, Argentina along with three professors from UWEC for a different, more hands on approach to learning.

What is your favorite UWEC event?

My favorite event has got to be UWEC Women's Rugby. I have been playing for the last four years and I am excited to go out on my last semester with a bang.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is either to go into environmental consulting or corporate mining.

What advice would you give to freshman?  

Try to figure out what your interests are as early as possible. Take a variety of GE (general) classes your first year because you might find out you like something that you never really knew existed. I started out as a psychology major with a spanish minor and now I am a business major with an extensive geology minor.

Why should a student consider studying in a STEM field at UWEC?

I think that studying any type of science or technology class is critical to the ever changing world. It also helps to accompany any other major you can think of. Most people give me a strange look when I tell them I am studying business and geology but they actually have a lot to do with each other.
 

How do you combine your business major with your geology minor?

This past year I made updates to the UW-Eau Claire geology department website to include resources for students who are graduating. The updates included adding sample resumes specific to geology, cover letter templates, alumni link resources, and job links. (It's the business major in me trying to help out the geology world!)
