Where will you be living in the fall: Off campus

Any comment on the residence halls experience:  I would encourage everyone to live 2 years in the dorms.  I had a random roommate that was a perfect match for me as we lived together for both years on campus.  Living off campus now is great, but I would never trade those two years I spent in the dorms.  I met so many more people and made a ton of new friends that I wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for the second year I spent in the dorms.

What activities/organizations are you involved in: Outdoor Adventure Club, Juggling Club, Campus Ambassadors, ECSNA (Eau Claire Student Nurses’ Association), and intramural volleyball.

If you work during school, where: Menard’s Distribution Center.  Driving around on a forklift and getting paid $12 something an hour is a blast.

Best thing/place to eat on campus: The Terrace on lower campus...just stack that plate full! 

Best place to eat in Eau Claire: Such a difficult question.  I’d have to say my house, I’m pretty good in the kitchen :)

Favorite activity/place off-campus: Fly fishing for brown trout in the many small trout streams around Eau Claire.  Also, fishing on the river that runs right through campus.  You don’t even have to drive anywhere. 

Best professor so far: I’ve never met a professor as amazing as biology professor Dr. Buiser.  He made learning so easy, especially for such a difficult biology course.  I loved it. 

Best thing about being a student at UWEC: I can think of a million, but what stands out at UWEC is how many friendly and interesting people I’ve met here.  It’s hard not to make friends. 

Why did you pick UWEC: My older sister had nothing but great things to say about UWEC.  I stayed over a couple weekends and loved the campus life. 

Best advice for getting the most out of college:  Have you ever seen Jim Carrey’s movie “Yes Man”?  Just don’t say ‘no’ to new experiences.  I had a chance to go sky diving for one of our wing events in my residence hall.  Even though I was a little freaked out by the idea of jumping out of a plane (my first plane ride ever, by the way), I just said yes and have an experience of a lifetime.

Why should you want to come visit campus: For me, the best way to make a decision is through experiences.  You can look at the website and compare UWEC with other schools all day, but when it comes down to visiting and experiencing Eau Claire, you can’t deny its beauty.
