Where will you live in the fall: In an apartment with one of my best friends! We met as freshmen in the dorms.

Any comment on the residence halls experience: My random roommate was a perfect fit as far as our lifestyles and habits go. In fact, I still live with her now – three years later!

What activities/organizations are you involved in: Editor of The Spectator (our campus newspaper), Society of Professional Journalists, the Honors Program, Campus Ambassadors and study abroad Winchester, England.

Best thing/place to eat on campus: The diced potatoes at Saturday morning brunch! It was tradition to go out with my friends to the cafeteria’s brunch every Saturday – and we loved breakfast nights for dinner during the week. Mmmm :)

Favorite thing to do when you get free time: I love walking through downtown Eau Claire and grabbing tea at Infinitea with a friend.

Favorite activity/place off-campus: Action City! I’m terrible at laser tag and at driving go-karts but it’s so fun, especially on Student Night when admission is discounted!

Favorite activity/place on-campus: Listening to random bands play music on the Campus Mall when the weather is nice. In the spring and fall, everyone sprawls out on the grass around the clock tower to study, tan, play frisbee...

Best class so far: Utopia and Dystopia – it was an honors class with about a dozen students and we read utopian lit and discussed society for the entire hour.

Best professor so far: Marty Wood, from the English department, who refuses to be referred to with his “Dr.” title. He is the most brilliant and friendly professor I’ve ever met. He taught the Utopian literature class. He makes even the most shy students feel comfortable saying ridiculous things in class :), and always has something profound to say himself!

Best thing about being a student at UWEC: Tubing on the Chippewa River in the summer!

Best reason to stay up until 2 a.m.: Deadline night at The Spectator! Haha, kidding... kind of. But really, my favorite all-nighters have been staying up talking to a friend or roommate about the most random things and suddenly realizing that it’s 3 a.m. and we have class at 8 a.m.

Why did you pick UWEC: Because I could tell they take academics seriously and for all of the opportunities they offer for such unbelievably low tuition. UW-Eau Claire has sent me abroad for a semester to England, backpacking for a month through Europe and to an internship at The Washington Post over winterim break – I even got to report at President Obama’s inauguration! I don’t think I could have done so much at any another school.

Best advice for getting the most out of college: Go to all of the freshman orientation events! I met so many friends there and it was way more fun than I expected. And join a student organization, or start your own! It’s the best way to meet people with similar interests.

Best memory/experience in college so far: Cliff jumping at Mt. Simon! I loved the adrenaline rush, and it’s a great way to cool off – from stress and the heat!
