What was your residence hall experience like on campus?
It's been phenomenal! As an RA, I have the privilege of creating wing events for my residents to enjoy. Everyone in the residence halls is very friendly and inclusive, which creates a great sense of community. There are always fun activities and events happening. Living in the residence halls never gets old!
What activities/organizations are you involved in?
Currently, I am a Resident Assistant, Campus Ambassador, Admissions Intern, Summer Orientation Assistant, Blugold Beginnings Tutor/Mentor & Researcher, Civil Rights Pilgrimage Coordinator, and member of the Ping Pong Team.
What is something that you’ve discovered about UWEC that you didn’t know when you got here as a freshman?
When I transferred here as a sophomore I had no idea that there was a ping-pong team! I spent my freshman year of college playing ping-pong for three to five hours everyday, so when I came to Eau Claire I was excited to take my skills to the next level and challenge other students from across the Midwest!
What’s been your favorite class so far?
My favorite class so far has been Introduction to Interpersonal Communication. In this class, I learned to apply a theory to almost any conversation that I had with someone! We learned all about relationship development models, verbal/nonverbal communication, and more! This was the class that got me hooked into the field of Communications.
Where’s your favorite local hotspot?
My favorite local hotspots are Starbucks and Milwaukee Burger Company. Sometimes I take my homework over to Starbucks and order my usual Peppermint White Mocha with soy – no whip, and relax in one of the comfy chairs for a few hours. Milwaukee Burger Company has the best burgers I have ever had!
Why did you choose UWEC?
I chose UWEC because of the wonderful music program that we have here. Even though I changed my major from Music Ed to Communications, Eau Claire has given me so many opportunities to grow as a leader and foster skills that will be applicable to any future job that I may have. The students, faculty, and staff here are so nice, friendly, and helpful – it’s hard not to love UWEC!
Finish the following sentence: YOU feel Blugold pride when…
I see other people express how much they love it here. Nothing makes me happier than knowing other students love Eau Claire as much as I do. I also feel Blugold pride while I’m giving tours. On tours we have the opportunity to share with families our favorite things about UW-Eau Claire and why we love it so much. It’s a great feeling!
