What was your residence experience like on campus?
I loved living on campus! I lived in Governors Hall my first two years, then was a Resident Assistant in Towers South my junior year. I met some of my best friends living in the halls while really being able to learn more about myself too. There are constantly opportunities to meet new people in the halls and that is something that was very helpful in my transition to college.
What activities/organizations are you involved in?
I stay pretty busy doing all sorts of things on campus. I am very involved in the music department, including UWEC Concert Choir, The Singing Statesmen, and Cabaret. These different groups keep me busy, and are some of the best things I have done in college. I also am involved with Campus Ambassadors, intramurals sports, and have two jobs on campus.
What is something that you’ve discovered about UWEC that you didn’t know when you got here as a freshman?
In almost every building on campus, there is at least one good place to take a nap. The couches in Haas Fine Arts, bean bags in the library, chairs in Davies, etc. No matter where you are at, there is always a place to catch a quick cat nap!
What’s been your best class so far?
While some may think that choir isn’t a “class” that you take, I would say that it has been one of the best one credit classes I have signed up for on multiple occasions. After six semesters in the ensemble, I can truly say I have learned so much about myself and others from this class that I couldn’t have learned in any other classroom setting. Dr. Schwartzhoff is a great conductor and really pushes us to continually improve throughout the year. This classroom has become a second home to me and all of the men in this group have played a huge part in my growth over the last three years.
Where’s your favorite local hotspot?
I love going to Racy’s Coffee Shop on Water Street. They have a great selection of food to eat on the weekends, and I really like going there to get homework done. The environment is very relaxed and I always seem to get the most done when I study there!
Finish the following sentence: YOU feel Blugold pride when…
Campaigning for homecoming every year. It is the best time of year to see what it means to be a Blugold and I love seeing how involved everyone gets this week!
