Where will you live in the fall: Off campus in the 3rd ward (where most off campus students live)!

What activities/organizations are you involved in: President of Women in Information Technology Systems, Co-President of the V-Day Campaign of UWEC (an organization dedicated to stopping violence against women and girls), Campus Ambassador, Computer Science Department Representative on the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, Member of Association for Computing Machinery and an ESTEAM Scholarship recipient.

Best place to study: Phillips lab!  I like to hang out in a side room and get stuff done and when I need help I just holler and there’s usually someone around to give me hand!

Best place to eat in Eau Claire: For something cheap and quick, I love going to Buffalo Wild Wing’s with some friends but for great local food, I go to Acoustic Café.

Favorite thing to do when you get free time: Free time?  What’s that?  Hypothetically, if I had free time, I love to read fantasy fiction.

Favorite activity/place on-campus: Phillips hall lab!! I practically live there.

Best class so far: So far, my favorite class has been my Programming Languages Course.  It’s really made me feel more confident in my abilities as a programmer and it has been super interesting to learn different languages throughout the semester!

Best professor so far: Professor Smith is a fantastic Spanish teacher!  My favorite classes of his are when he brings his guitar to class!

Best reason to stay up until 2 a.m.: 2 am? That’s it?  I’ve pulled all-nighters for CS projects and I couldn’t think of a better reason.

Why did you pick UWEC:
First, the CS program is fantastic and I really enjoyed meeting with the chair of the department before I visited.  The atmosphere was super laid back and everyone was super friendly.  I also think we have the most gorgeous campus ever!  Who can beat a river running right through campus?

Best advice for getting the most out of college: Get to know your professors!!!  That’s part of the reason I love college, the relationships I’ve built with my peers and professors.  My CS professors in particular are a vital part in my professional development and definitely the best resources for me in my major.

Best memory/experience in college so far: When my tutee (I am a tutor) told me that I’m the reason she’s still a CS major! I really feel like I made a difference.

Excellence. Our Measure. Our Motto. Our Goal.
