Major: Organizational Communication
What activities/organizations are you involved in?
I’m currently Executive Secretary for the Residence Hall Association. We’re a central Housing and Residence Life organization that’s involved in student life around the residence halls and on campus. It’s really fun to meet and interact with students from all of the residence halls and make a difference in student life! I'm also actively involved in Future Student Affairs Professionals Program (FSAPP) and working at Career Services.
What's your favorite Blugold tradition?
Homecoming week is one of the best weeks on campus. The Blugold spirit is alive everywhere you go, and there are so many fun events to get involved with! You can show your school spirit by participating in goofy (but very competitive) events like “Yell Like Hell,” or get involved with campaigning for your favorite Blugold in the election for Prom King and Queen. You also can’t miss all the student talent at Varsity Night Live. There’s never a dull moment during UWEC Homecoming Week.
Who's been your favorite professor?
Nicole Schultz, a Communication and Journalism professor! She structures her courses around the students; rather than lecturing, she encourages discussion and input from her students, so we actually got to focus on what the students wanted to learn! She was also my advisor and gave me really helpful guidance.
Where's the best place to study?
The fifth floor of McIntyre Library provides the best view of the Chippewa River and downtown Eau Claire! Since each floor of the library gets progressively quieter, it’s also the most peaceful place to study. I’ve logged quite a few hours there!
What's been your best memory/experience in college so far?
It is so difficult to pick just one memory! I always go back to my campus tour. Nick Goffard was the one who introduced me to Blugold life, and I’ll be forever grateful! From the moment I stepped on campus I knew Eau Claire was a great fit! In the past two years the University has become my home, a place where I am free to be myself and where opportunity is always right around the corner!
Why did you choose UWEC?
From the moment of my first tour, UWEC felt different. It really feels a lot like home, plus the faculty, staff, and students are all super friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help you succeed!
