Our Actuarial Science program at UWEC is designed to prepare students for a career as an actuary. This preparation includes coverage of
preliminary exam topics and fulfillment of VEE requirements . We offer a comprehensive major and a minor. The program director is Kris Presler , FSA, MAAA. Professor Presler is an actuary with experience in academics and the insurance industry. Other faculty in the program include Herschel Day, Vicki Whitledge, Marie-Claire Koissi, Zhixin Yang, and Mohammad Aziz. Herschel Day, FSA, MAAA, is an actuary with expertise in issues related to healthcare reform. Vicki Whitledge, Ph.D., is an applied mathematician with interest and experience in casualty insurance. Marie-Claire Koissi-Kouassi, Ph.D., Zhixin Yang, Ph.D. and Mohammad Aziz, Ph.D., all have substantial experience in research related to actuarial science.
