The endearingly fractured Hoover family treks from Albuquerque to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant in Redondo Beach, California, to fulfill the deepest wish of seven-year-old Olive (Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin). Along the way the family must deal with setbacks, heartbreaks and an unreliable Volkswagen bus, all leading up to the surreal Little Miss Sunshine competition itself. Their trip to the pre-pubescent beauty pageant results in comic mayhem and a moving look at the surprising rewards of being losers in a winning-crazed culture. The ensemble cast includes Greg Kinnear, Paul Dano, Alan Arkin, Toni Collette and Steve Carell. Nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture, the film won Oscars for Best Original Screenplay (Michael Arndt) and Best Supporting Actor (Arkin).
