Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald) is about to turn Sweet Sixteen — and no one in her family even remembers because her spoiled older sister (Blanche Baker) is having her wedding the following day. An average teen, Samantha has to endure creepy freshmen, confused parents and the popular blonde on campus who stands between her and the boy of her dreams. John Hughes’ coming-of-age romantic comedy costars Anthony Michael Hall, Michael Schoeffling, John Cusack and Justin Henry.

"This is a fresh and cheerful movie with a goofy sense of humor and a good ear for how teenagers talk. It doesn’t hate its characters or condescend to them, the way a lot of teenage movies do; instead, it goes for human comedy and finds it in the everyday lives of the kids in its story." — Robert Ebert
