Lost in Translation

Thursday–Sunday

March 1–4

Davies Theatre

6 + 8:30 pm

Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) are two Americans in Tokyo.
He is a world-weary movie star in town to film a whiskey commercial; she is a disenchanted young newlywed tagging along with her workaholic photographer husband. Unable to sleep, the two strangers cross paths one night in the bar of their luxury hotel — a chance meeting that leads to a surprising friendship. Separately and together they venture through Tokyo, having confusing encounters with its culture and ultimately finding a new belief in life’s possibilities.

“Well, I loved this movie,” wrote film critic Roger Ebert. An Oscar nominee for Best Picture, Lost in Translation won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
