Violinist Isaac Stern became a mentor to the Amelia Piano Trio after hearing the group at his master class at Carnegie Hall in 2000. The trio won the ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming the next year. In addition to performing the classics, the Amelia Piano Trio commissions new pieces and leads outreach programs where high school and college-aged musicians learn chamber music.
