Alcoholic Beverages, Guidelines for Service of
The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages outside the residence halls is governed by established policies administered through the Director of University Centers. Such possession or consumption is not permitted on campus, other than at catered events in authorized areas.
Alcohol at Activities Sponsored by Student Organizations
The availability of alcohol at any activity sponsored by University-recognized student organizations must comply with UW-Eau Claire rules and regulations and with the laws of the State of Wisconsin. Should a recognized student organization choose to make alcohol available at any event or activity, this policy applies.
Food On Campus
Blugold Dining has exclusive rights to provide all types of food services on campus, and offers catering services to student organizations. No food or beverages may be provided by campus organizations or off-campus vendors unless authorization is granted through the Event Services office at least 10 working days in advance. Unauthorized food service may result in the revocation of reservation privileges.
Exhibiting Copyrighted Films
A public performance license is required for film screenings in University Centers facilities. Anyone wishing to exhibit a motion picture in a space reserved through Event Services must produce documentation that a public performance license has been obtained.
Decorating for Events
Student organizations may decorate rooms in Davies Center for special events, within guidelines.
Learning and Technology Services is responsible for the campus' mass e-mail policy. A mass e-mail is defined as a single message being sent to more than 1,000 recipients. Departments, offices, units, and student organizations are authorized to submit announcements and publications to Integrated Marketing & Communications for publication in the weekly bulletin distributed weekly to all active UW-Eau Claire e-mail addresses. The Chancellor and Vice Chancellors may authorize dissemination of information via mass e-mail either on a one-time or an ongoing basis.
Student organizations are permitted to raise funds for their organization both on and off campus. Fundraising on campus may be subject to facility and/or equipment rental fees depending on the nature of the fundraiser and the space required. Fundraisers include merchandise sales, raffles and bake sales.
Signage on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus is regulated by Facilities Planning and Facilities Management. This policy specifically refers to the temporary placement of lawn signs.
Student organizations often wish to purchase organization merchandise (t-shirts, coffee mugs, tote bags, etc.) for members of their group or to raise funds for their group. UW-
Eau Claire has procedures in place to help maintain the integrity of the institution and assist students with orders. All logos, seals, wordmarks, names, symbols and slogans associated with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire are trademarks and are the exclusive property of UW-Eau Claire, and reproduction of these marks must be authorized. The UW-Eau Claire licensing program is directed by UW-Eau Claire Athletics.
Outdoor Event Spaces
All outdoor event spaces must be reserved through the Event Services office, Davies 240.
The use of UW-Eau Claire facilities by a candidate for a political event is governed by UWS 21.04 of the administrative code. Under this section, the use of University facilities by any person or organization not associated with a UW institution is permitted only under circumstances outlined here.
Campus policies on posters, lawn signs, chalking, table tents, and the digital signage system in Davies Center are administered by the University Centers.
Smoking is prohibited on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus except in designated areas and on city-owned streets that run through campus. Davies Center and its terraces are smoke-free; smoking is permitted only at the loading dock southwest of the building. Details on the campuswide smoking policy are available on the website of Facilities Management.
Solicitation on University Premises
Individuals or organizations may engage in solicitation in University structures and on University grounds pursuant to established terms and conditions, and the University retains the right to accept or reject, with just cause, any request for use of its structure and grounds. Political campaigning and the distribution of political literature is permitted only in designated areas at designated times.
Table Space in Davies Center
Student organizations may reserve table space up to five times per academic year per event. Particular guidelines apply if tables are reserved for the purpose of selling items.
