Running Your Organization

As a leader, you not only assist in leading an organization but also the individual members. Leading people brings with it different challenges than leading an organization. A leader should make sure that the group members have the following:

  • a sense of belonging
  • input in planning the group’s goals
  • a voice in establishing the rules of the group
  • a clear understanding of what is expected of them

You shouldn’t do this alone! You will have an executive board of officers to help you.
In establishing an executive board, there are two basic organizational structures from which to choose.

Establishing an Executive Board

After establishing an executive board, assemble officers, board members or anyone of decision-making importance to formulate a written set of goals and objectives to share with members. Always monitor progress toward the organization’s goals.
