Joe Haferman began his employment at UW-Eau Claire in July 2011. Joe is responsible for the administrative functions for the more than 250 student organizations on the Eau Claire campus, and manages the Student Organizations and Leadership Center in Davies Center. Joe also oversees Higherground, UW-Eau Claire's student run club, which is known for its Club Mercury dance parties. Other responsibilities include coordination of honor societies, Summer Events and the Blugold Organizations Bash.

Previous to arriving at UW-Eau Claire, Joe was employed at Western Illinois University in the Office of Student Activities working with leadership development, student organization services and volunteer services.

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2007, and a Master of Science degree in college student personnel administration from Western Illinois University in 2009.

Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time outdoors, especially golfing, hunting and occasionally camping. He also likes to travel, read and watch Packers football and Blackhawks hockey.

Tina Killey joined the staff of the Activities, Involvement and Leadership office in 1997. She monitors and reconciles the Activities, Involvement and Leadership budgets including the Artists Series, Cabaret, Commencement, The Forum, International Film Society, the University Activities Commission and the Viennese Ball. She is currently the sole administrative support to the Activities, Involvement and Leadership coordinators.

Before coming to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Tina was employed for seven years with the Wisconsin State Patrol, and prior to that she worked in the Eau Claire County District Attorney’s office. Since 1995 Tina has been the newsletter editor and a member of the board of the Indianhead Track Club, and she was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2008. Tina also manages the women’s adult hockey league The Altoona Blades, a team she has played with since 2001. Tina is married to John Killey, owner of John Killey Insurance Agency, and has three children. Billy and Kateri Hanson are both students at Winona State University, and Isabella is in elementary school.

Katy Rand joined the Activities, Involvement and Leadership staff in August 2010. She works with university-wide leadership programs including the uWEc LEAD Student Leadership Conference, the Leadership Seminar, Alternative Spring Break, the University Student Excellence Awards, Leadership Circles, and numerous other initiatives.

Katy received a Bachelor of Science degree in service management, with a business administration minor, from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and a Master of Science in Education degree in the Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education program from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2012. Previous to working at UW-Eau Claire, Katy has worked within student activities at the University of Wisconsin-Stout as the marketing and programming coordinator for University Centers, and at Chippewa Valley Technical College as the student life specialist. When she is not in the Activities, Involvement and Leadership office, she enjoys traveling, going to concerts, watching movies, knitting, volunteering, and watching football. Go Packers!

Nicole Rindone joined the Activities, Involvement and Leadership staff in September 2010, and she was named Coordinator of Student Activities in May 2012. She advises, leads and directs programs including the University Activities Commission of the Student Senate, the UW-Eau Claire International Film Society, and other programs relating to student activities. She also works with university-wide programs including the Artists Series and The Forum and their administrative committees. She trains and supervises the work of student committee members and volunteers associated with student-initiated programming. Nicole has primary responsibility for budget development and management for the UAC, and she oversees the scheduling and production of programs under the umbrella of student activities.

Nicole received a Bachelor of Arts degree with an art history minor from the University
of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She actively participated in the UAC and other events associated with Activities, Involvement and Leadership while she attended school, so she is no stranger to the office and all the great events that we bring to campus.

Sara Thommesen began her employment at UW-Eau Claire in 1998. Sara is responsible for
the day-to-day administrative support functions for the more than 250 student organizations at UW-Eau Claire and manages the Student Organizations and Leadership Center. The Wisconsin College Personnel Association has twice recognized Sara's service to students with the WCPA Support Staff Recognition Award — in 2009, and in 2012.

Previous to arriving at UW-Eau Claire, Sara was employed at the Eau Claire Area Convention and Visitors Bureau as a convention sales and service manager; Marcus Corporation/Crowne Plaza Minneapolis as a hotel sales manager; and Courtyard by Marriott in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, as a front office supervisor and sales coordinator.

Sara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in industrial psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1993.

Outside of the office, Sara enjoys spending time with her husband Scott and their two children, Trynne and Tyler. Sara is also an honorary member of Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society, a member of the Wisconsin College Personnel Association, and a member of the Pedersen Elementary PTO.
